Somewhat disturbing news today regarding our ducks. It turns out Maude is actually a boy. Our neighbour Paolo made the discovery (I don’t dare enquire how) but it certainly explains his rather aggressive behaviour. Meanwhile, Muddles has become quite territorial, pecking and clacking her beak at anyone who attempts to walk out the back door. They’re also both leaving a great mess on the patio and, with no eggs produced so far, I’m not sure we can really keep them for much longer.

This evening we sampled another local restaurant, Rinaldo, that had been highly recommended. The food was excellent and the staff certainly attentive. Even the owner made an appearance later in the evening, wandering from table to table in a bright gold dress and matching sandals, asking patrons if they were having a good time. (We subsequently found out that this woman wasn’t the owner, just a regular patron with some sort of mental disorder, but she still added a colourful touch.)
